EAMA/Enginuity/Gatsby skills report
EAMA works with the Department for Education, BEIS and others to improve training and skills in advanced engineering and is a member of the National Manufacturing Skills Task Force. This builds on work undertaken in 2019/20.
Pre-Covid, EAMA’s trade associations were clear that skills was the biggest issue facing the sectors they served. While the pandemic and its impact dominated 2020, ensuring we have the right skills for the future remains a key challenge.
EAMA, Enginuity (formerly SEMTA) and the Gatsby Foundation came together to commission a report on how firms in the machinery and component supply chain were approaching funded apprenticeships and alternatives. The research, carried out by Pye Tait Consulting, was conducted up to early March 2020 and the researchers’ findings are in the main report. They are summarised, with recommendations, in the executive summary:
Executive summary: 2020 Skills Vision: Executive Summary
Main report: 2020 Skills Vision: The Skills, Recruitment and Training Landscape
